Update - 06/24/05
Daniel represented Lost with Malcom David Kelly at "International Upfronts".
He is doing more voice-over work -- another videogame for the new XBOX 360 and a character for the "Justice League" animated series.
Daniel will also be heading to LA to do a role in a very small independent film by an Asian American filmmaker. He actually gets to play the romantic lead!
At the end of July, it's back to "The Island" for season two of LOST.
Daniel can be seen in a lot more magazines -- more than I can keep track of! I can't post info on everyone like I used to. A problem but one I'm glad to have. :)
He'll also be on a lot more talk shows, especially when "The Cave" hits the theaters on August 26th. Check out lost-media for timely updates.
Update - 05/15/05
If you live in the New York area and you hurry, you can catch Daniel live! He is taking the summer off from TV and movies and going back to the stage. The play starts soon and only runs for a few weeks.

Update - 04/19/05
So much to tell folks!
Lost is everywhere these days!
The Lost season finale will be three hours long. "Exodus" will show one hour on May 18th and two hours on May 25th. This will make Lost a 25-hour season, 26 with the April 27th special "recap" episode. Happily, the first season DVD set has now been expanded to 7 discs. The boxset is scheduled to come out September 6th. More info on the DVDs at TVshowsonDVD.
To no one's surprise, Lost has been officially renewed and will return for a second season. Production is scheduled to begin in July.
Javier "Javi" Grillo-Marxuach, a writer and supervising producer for Lost, told Sci-Fi Wire that "... In Translation" was his favorite episode of the season. Javi co-wrote this episode with Leonard Dick. Javi said:
"It was such a great character piece for Jin. Daniel's performance was fantastic. I don't think it's our flashiest episode. There are episodes that have more incidents in them, but it was so emotional and was so much a closure for me, because I wrote the first episode ['House of the Rising Sun'] about Jin and Sun."
Jin - or at least "The Korean Guy on Lost" - was mentioned recently on ESPN. (Thanks to Arnold for catching this.) Lost was also spoofed in the recent issue of "MAD". Guess Jin and Lost are really into the popular culture now!

Daniel made a surprise appearance at last weekend's Destination: LA. The gala was a celebration of Lost's first season, as well as a fund-raiser for the Children's Defense Fund of Los Angeles.
Kailin got some great pictures which are posting in the con section of the Image Gallery.
At the event, a flash interview at Popgurls.com got the following responses from Daniel:
POPGURLS: If you were on a deserted island, which character from Lost would you want to be stranded with and why?
Maybe Locke – he knows what it takes to survive.
POPGURLS: What one album would you want with you?
Wow, that's a huge one. That's a HUGE question. Lloyd Cole and the Commotions – Mainstream.
POPGURLS: Someone has walked up to you and handed over your most beloved childhood toy. What is it?
The VertiBird. [It] was a helicopter that would fly up and it was attached to a cable and it would fly around in a circle and you would control the speed and height. It had a little hook that you could pick up little toys with.

Update - 03/08/05
In a recent interview for Ain't It Cool News, Daniel gave more details about the Leonard Chang novel he recently optioned:
AICN: Can you tell me about “Over the Shoulder”?
DDK: It’s an incredible book by Leonard Chang, a Korean American from the Bay Area. It’s a noir thriller…a suspense novel that happens to have a Korean American as the protagonist. One of the things I love about the book is that it’s not just about being Asian American. It’s first and foremost a crime mystery, a genre that already has widespread appeal, but it also manages to wrap issues of identity and family history into the plot. It appealed to me on a lot of levels. We’re working on finishing the screenplay right now.
AICN: Will you be playing the lead role?
DDK: That depends on how long it takes [laughs]. The character is in his mid-thirties. If it takes more than a few years to make and I get too old to do the part, I’d be happy to sit back and produce it. This is a story I’d like to see on screen, regardless of whether I play the character.
Update - 03/01/05
USA Today has published the first official news about the Lost DVD set! It will be released September 6th at probably $60 for a 6 DVD set. Extras are to include the original pilot, deleted scenes, casting tapes, bloopers, behind-the-scenes footage, audio commentaries, roundtable discussions with cast and crew, and a Matthew Fox photography featurette -- supposedly five hours of extras! How's that all going to fit onto 6 discs? Thanks to TVshowsonDVD for this news!
Update - 09/26/04
An interesting bit from Daniel's bio on abcmedianet (second to last on this page):
"Recently [Daniel Dae Kim]
optioned the rights to the Leonard Chang novel, "Over the Shoulder," a noir
thriller about a man who investigates the murder of a friend and, in the
process, discovers many secrets about his family and their past. The project
is currently in development to become an independent feature."
Sounds like Daniel is branching out!
Some amusing quotes from Daniel in a review of the Lost premiere party by "Watch with Kristin" of E!Online:
"Lost is about survivors of a plane crash stranded on a deserted island, so
naturally, at the premiere, the Gilligan's Island jokes were running wild.
Castmember Daniel Dae Kim (Angel, 24), God bless his silly soul, said he's
working on his "coconut bike." He also suggested I wash ashore as a guest
star and fashion a microphone out of bamboo."

Update - 09/09/04
At long last, Crusade is coming out on DVD! The following is from TVTome.com:
Crusade - B5 spinoff is slated
In 2267 the Earth is quarantined, having been infected with a deadly plague by an attacking alien force. Scientists estimate that it will kill every inhabitant within 5 years, not nearly enough time for a cure to be developed. So the planet's only hope lies with the Excalibur, an advanced prototype starship sent out to search ancient alien ruins for their former inhabitant's secrets, hoping that somewhere out there a cure can be found.
Warner Bros Home Video has announced that the Babylon 5 spinoff, Crusade will hit DVD on December 7. The series stars Peter Woodward, Gary Cole, Marjean Holden, Tracy Scoggins, Daniel Dae Kim, David Allen Brooks and Carrie Dobro. This 13 episode series (576 mins) will be released in a 4 disc set, and carries a suggested price of $59.98 US. It'll contain an English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track, along with English, French and Spanish subtitles. The video will be presented in the original aspect ratio: 1.33:1. We have little information on the special features, just that there will be audio commentaries and a documentary.
Don't forget, the premiere of Lost is on September 22, 2004 on 8/7c on ABC!
Update - 07/18/04
The Lost pilot has been floating around the Web and a fair number of people have seen it. Reviews are positive, but Daniel's role has disappointed. He plays a non-english-speaking Korean man, in the stereotyped role of the "grunting, domineering man and borderline abusive husband". Daniel must have heard of this discontent because he sent me the following note:
To those folks who are worried about my role in "Lost," please tell them not to be. What I do in the first episode is definitely not the whole story. Things are not necessarily what they seem on the island.... -- Daniel
For those at Comic-Con in San Diego next weekend -- On Saturday, July 24th, there will be a sneak peak at the Lost pilot and then an interview and Q&A session with Lost actors, producers & writers. Unlikely that Daniel will be there, though, since I think he's still in Romania filming Cave.
Speaking of Cave, a first review of sorts has been published at Box Office Prophets. The site lists the release date as March 11, 2005.

Update - 06/21/04
The premiere date for Lost has been set! It's Sept. 22nd at 8pm EST and will be the first hour of the two hour pilot. I understand that the episodes are already circulating around the web. I'd be interested in what people think about it - come over to the DDK yahoogroup!
Update - 06/06/04
ABC has released the first cast and promo pics for Lost and they are on the new Lost Image Gallery page. ABC is also already running promo ads for the series during various time slots, so looks like they are fully behind it.
Update - 05/21/04
Lost has been officially picked up! ABC announced it Fall lineup and Lost has been slated for at least 13 episodes.
Here is the full rulldown --
"Lost" (one-hour drama, Wednesday, 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) -- Out of the blackness the first thing Jack senses is pain. Then burning sun. A Bamboo forest. Smoke. Screams. With a rush comes the horrible awareness that the plane he was on tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island. From there it's a blur, as his doctor's instinct kicks in: people need his help.
Stripped of everything, the 48 survivors scavenge what they can from the plane for their survival. Some panic. Some pin their hopes on rescue. A few find inner strength they never knew they had—like Kate who, with no medical training, suddenly finds herself suturing the doctor's wounds. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain. But the intense howls of the mysterious creatures stalking the jungle fill them all with fear. Fortunately, thanks to the calm leadership of quick-thinking Jack and level-headed Kate, they have hope. But even heroes have secrets, as the survivors will come to learn.
From J.J. Abrams, the creator of "Alias," comes an action-packed adventure that will bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost.

Update - 05/05/04
According to an article in today's Honolulu Star-Bulletin:
"Producers of ABC's "Lost" pilot episode, which filmed here last month, will learn next week whether the series has been green lit to start filming this summer. One good sign, perhaps, is that its production office remains up and running at the Ilikai Hotel. In the meantime, the L-1011 airplane wreckage used as the show's main set at a Mokuleia beach and in Heeia has been removed and stored."
Full article.
There was also a recent tv piece on TheHawaiiChannel about the upcoming TV shows filming in Hawaii, and their main focus is on Lost. It shows an actual scene being shot, though I didn't see DDK in it.

The Biggest News first! --
Daniel has landed a role as a series regular in J.J. Abrams new pilot, Lost!
His character is called Jin.
Description from creator J.J Abrams:
"It's about survivors of a
plane crash who manage to get themselves on a deserted island with a lot of
freaky stuff going on, animals they've never seen before. It's how they
survive in that situation." Many bizarre circumstances will be revolving
around these survivors as they adjust to new life, and yet try to find a way
home."
Some of the other actors in the ensemble cast include Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Ian Somerhalder (Young Americans), Jorge Garcia (Becker), Evangeline Lilly, and Matthew Fox (Party of Five).
The pilot is currently filming in Mokuleia Beach, Hawaii. It's estimated to be the most expensive pilot ever filmed ... Read about the filming in the Honolulu Star Bulletin.
There is already an unofficial fan site with tons of info. What a coup!

Update - 09/14/03
From The Zolcalo Today Newsletter:
"In a recent Dreamwatch interview, Daniel talked about his work on the series. "So far, I've interacted with a lot with 'Hoshi', Linda Park's character, and 'Trip', Connor Trinneer's character, and Scott Bakula ['Archer'], of course. We have a scene with [Dominic Keating's] 'Reed' in the episode we're shooting now. I think we'll be interacting with everybody." When asked about what he'd be doing on-screen, Kim said, "I don't think I'm allowed to go into specifics, but lots of rifles and guns all sorts of neat toys." Daniel has kept busy since his role as John Matheson on CRUSADE ended. He has had recurring roles on ANGEL and 24. So far, his presence has been confirmed for the first and third episodes of Enterprise season three."

News bits regarding Cave aka Prime Evil :
08/11/05
The release date will be August 26th.
03/01/05
A release date has been set for Cave (that seems to be the final title) of August 19th. There is a trailer up at
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/the_cave/. Daniel can be spotted a couple of times.
07/08/04
A first review of sorts has been published at Box Office Prophets. The site lists the release date as March 11, 2005.
04/09/04
After Hawaii, Daniel's heading to Romania for 3 months to shoot a movie to be called Cave or Primevil or Prime Evil (they haven't decided but IMDB calls it Prime Evil). Daniel describes it as sort of Alien underwater, with a team of divers discovering a new eco-system where they are definitely not the top of the food chain. Daniel's character is a documentary
filmmaker with the divers. Some of the rest of the cast are Cole Hauser (2
Fast 2 Furious), Morris Chestnut, Eddie Cibrian (Third Watch, The Street
Lawyer), and Piper Perabo (Cheaper by the Dozen, Coyote Ugly). More info at IMDB.
News bits regarding The Untitled Onion Movie:
04/09/04
The longtime writers/editors at "America's Finest News Source" have written THE UNTITLED ONION MOVIE, a series of sketches that encompasses the sharp, uncensored comic tone of The Onion and sheds light on the various hypocrisies of the world today.
12/12/03
In the next month, Daniel will be shooting a role in "The Untitled Onion Movie", a pseudo-documentary based on the fake newspaper, The Onion.
Older but still relevant news:
June 2003: Daniel was not actually in aired verson of the 24 season 2 finale. When they found out 24 was renewed for the next season, they needed to put some next season setup scenes and Agent Baker's scenes were lost. The cut scenes are available on the DVD release.
June 2003: Daniel is no longer in Starsky and Hutch. His character was "rethought" just before filming started.
November 2002:
The final tally for Jade Magazine's Sexiest Asian American Male has declared Daniel the First Runner Up, second only to Apolo Anton Ohno (?). The way the poll was conducted allowed for easy ballot-box stuffing, the only possible reason why Daniel didn't make #1 ... ;)
September 2002: The Inkworks Angel Season 3 Trading Cards are now available. The Gavin Park autographed card looks sharp. There is also an unautographed Gavin Park Character card and many Wolfram&Hart and episode cards that refer to him. The cards I have so far are in the Image Gallery.
May 2002: Daniel has a new manager - Tamara Rothenberg of Lighthouse Entertainment. Some others represented by Lighthouse include David Arquette and Julia Stiles. This will now be the place to send mail to Daniel (see below). His agent is still Silver Massetti.
January 2002:
A film website lists Daniel as starring in an upcoming independant film called "Treading Water". Daniel has confirmed that he has talked with the filmmaker. However, this film and Daniel's part in it should still be considered in the realm of speculation, considering that the main character has yet to be cast and many other such details are still be be worked out.
August 2001: Daniel sent a warm thank you to all his fans that mailed him postcards for his birthday - you know who you are!
July 2001: Daniel spent a month at Sundance Studio, where he worked on a couple of projects. Completed films may or may not come out of it.
June 2001: Daniel indeed was at AgememCon in June! Pictures are in the Image Gallery.
And by popular request ...
